What payment methods are accepted when picking up a rental car?

The main costs for your rental car have already been paid through Tourlane. When picking up the vehicle, it's primarily about providing a deposit and possibly paying for additional fees such as one-way charges on site.

You can find details about all included services and any potential additional costs in the rental car section of your Tourlane app and in the travel visualization.

When picking up the rental car, a credit card is generally accepted as the primary payment method:

  • Credit Card: A valid credit card in the name of the main driver is required. This will be used for the deposit and for any additional costs.
  • Important to note:
    • The credit card must have a sufficient credit limit to cover the deposit
    • Debit cards are not accepted by most car rental companies
    • Prepaid credit cards are also generally not accepted
    • The credit card must be issued in the name of the main driver

Note about insurance: Tourlane has typically already booked a comprehensive insurance package for your rental car. When picking up the vehicle, car rental companies often offer additional insurance. We recommend that you check your existing insurance coverage on site before purchasing additional insurance. You can find which insurance is already included in your booking in your rental car documents in the Tourlane app or via your personal travel link.
