Do I need to check in separately for each flight?
Whether you need to check in separately for each flight depends on various factors:
Flights with the same airline or partner airlines:
- If all your flights are booked on a single ticket (one booking number), you typically only need to check in once
- At your first check-in, you will normally receive boarding passes for all segments
- In most cases, your luggage will be checked through to your final destination
Flights with different, non-cooperating airlines:
- If your flights are booked on separate tickets (different booking numbers), you will need to check in separately for each flight
- You will need to collect your luggage at the connecting airport and check it in again
- You will need separate boarding passes for each flight segment
Intercontinental flights with stopovers:
- For some intercontinental trips, despite having a continuous booking, you may need to go through security again at the connecting airport
- In some countries (e.g., USA), you must collect your luggage upon entry, clear customs, and check it in again
Important: You will definitely be informed at the first check-in counter whether you need to check in again for connecting flights. The airline staff will tell you exactly whether you will receive all boarding passes and whether your luggage will be checked through or not.
